What the market asks and how it resolves
The market asks which party will win control of the United States Senate in the 2026 midterm election. Control goes to the party winning a majority of voting seats. If no party wins a majority, the party that wins half the seats and holds the Vice Presidency takes control. If still ambiguous, the party of the first selected President Pro Tempore of the next Congress decides it. Only seats with elections scheduled for November 2026 as of October 31, 2026 count, and runoffs count even if held after November.
How traders price it now
The Democratic Party trades at 67.5% and the Republican Party at 32.5%. Over the last 58 half-day points, the Democratic Party line started at 63.5%, peaked at 68.5%, bottomed at 62.5%, and is now up +4.0 percentage points overall. The event has $8.82M total volume and $903,127 in 24-hour volume across 2 active markets.
How concentrated the odds are
The Democratic line has stayed inside a fairly tight band between its 62.5% low and 68.5% high across the window, so recent pricing sits near the upper part of that range. Because the two markets are listed as complementary Yes prices, the Republican Party figure reflects the same outcome from the other side. Thin or sudden moves would show up quickly in this band, so traders watching the market should check the live chart before drawing conclusions.

What decides this market
- Control requires a majority of voting seats, so the final seat count in November 2026 decides the outcome.
- Runoffs count toward attribution even if held after November, which can delay a final result.
Resolution rules
This market will resolve according to the party that wins control of the United States Senate in the 2026 United States midterm election. A party wins control of the United States Senate if it wins a majority of the chamber’s voting seats. If no party wins a majority of voting seats, the party that wins control of the chamber is the party that wins half of the voting seats and holds the Vice Presidency. If the outcome remains ambiguous after applying the above criteria, the chamber will be deemed controlled by the party with which the first selected President Pro Tempore of the Congress that convenes after the specified election is affiliated. The following rules govern the counting of seats…
