Silicon Valley is spending billions and billions of dollars to prevent what you saw @grok was capable of today.
Opponents of the proposed billionaire tax in California have raised over $300 million to stop it from passing, which is about 10 times more than what supporters of the measure have raised. The opposition funding came mostly from tech barons and venture capitalists, with a third of it coming from Google co-founder Sergey Brin. By having a whopping 10 times the resources that supporters have, the opposition can saturate television, radio, digital platforms, mailers, etc. This is a clear example of the asymmetric influence of billionaires. There are no campaign finance limits on state ballot measures. 90% of the proceeds from this proposal for a one-time 5% wealth tax on billionaires would be designated for the state's healthcare, while 10% would go to food assistance and school. Gavin Newsom opposes the proposal.
BREAKING: The fundraising dinner being organized in Silicon Valley by Billionaires David Sacks & Chamath Palihapitiya in support of Donald Trump has been SOLD OUT Tickets for the dinner were $300,000 per person and $500,000 per couple. They expect to raise many more millions at the dinner Never in a million years did I think big tech billionaires in San Francisco would be lining up to raise money for Trump's campaign but here we are
