"text": "THIS IS INSANE!!! A San Francisco startup says it just turned mercury into real gold. The company is Marathon Fusion. This week they announced they'd made stable gold using fusion neutrons, at 10x the record CERN set in 2025. CERN's record was 29 picograms over four years. So nobody's pouring bars yet. The method is what got me. You hit mercury-198 with a fusion neutron. It loses a neutron, becomes mercury-197, and over the next few days decays into gold-197. The exact same gold sitting in central bank vaults. Their 2025 paper says a one-gigawatt fusion plant built this way could make around 2 tonnes of gold a year as a side product, while it's selling electricity. I've said it for years. Gold is a shiny rock. It's valuable because there's only so much of it and pulling it out of the ground is hard and expensive. If this holds up, gold's scarcity turns into an engineering problem. And you can only delay technical progress. You can't stop it. To be fair, the gold comes out mixed with radioactive isotopes and would need to sit for well over a decade before it's safe to touch. Nobody outside the company has verified the result yet, and commercial fusion is still years away. Peter Schiff has spent years telling everyone Bitcoin has no intrinsic value. This week a startup says it made gold out of mercury. There will only ever be 21 million Bitcoin. No reactor on Earth can make one more.",

"text": "Warhound, a defense‑tech startup founded by Palmer Luckey and Ben Lamm, has raised $200 million in seed funding to genetically engineer war dogs for the U.S. military. Lamm is responsible for the de-extinction of the dire wolf which died out ~10,000 years ago. Warhound will find top dogs and then biobank their genetic material before cloning the proven dogs. The company will take the cell lines for top breeds like Belgian Malinois and German Shepherd before editing the genes to make the dogs perform better and improve “things like speed and agility or enhance olfactory sensors for bomb sniffing and whatnot.” Luckey’s Anduril will supply the dogs with advanced body armor, ear coverings, and other military technology like EagleEye, an artificial intelligence military helmet. Anduril is also reportedly working with META on battlefield augmented reality eyewear. Lamm says the genetically modified dogs with advanced equipment will not only make the dogs safer, but will also make the human handlers safer. The first Warhound puppies will reportedly soon be cloned and incubated and will be born in early 2027 and then will begin training.",

No reactor on Earth can make one more. — https://x.com/EvanLuthra/status/2113249510277472644\n- **@CollinRugg** (♥5.5K ↺533): Warhound, a defense‑tech startup founded by Palmer Luckey and Ben Lamm, has raised $200 million in seed funding to genetically engineer war dogs for the U.S. The first Warhound puppies will reportedly soon be cloned and incubated and will be born in early 2027 and then will begin training. — https://x.com/CollinRugg/status/2113636066075070849\n- **@MarioNawfal** (♥3.0K ↺507): 🇺🇸 California has undergone one of the most DRAMATIC demographic transformations in American history. In 1950, 93.7% of California's population was classified as White by the U.S. Census Bureau. Today, just 32.5% identify as non-Hispanic White. And we're talking about CALIFORNIA, America's most populous state, home to Silicon Valley, Hollywood, and an enormous share of the country's cultural and economic influence. The bigger question is what parts of California's cultural heritage will survive another generation of change.
