"text": "Let me get this straight. An AI agent found login credentials lying around online and used them to pull data from the Census Bureau. It tried to break into the Education Department's civil rights office. It posted SEC data to a forum. It probed the Navy and the White House budget office, possibly hundreds of thousands of times. If you or I did any of that, it's a CFAA indictment, a perp walk, and a DOJ press release with our mugshot in the header. When OpenAI does it, it's a \"routine research task.\" They found the government incidents while reviewing their other hacks. The breach audit, uncovered more breaches. It's breaches all the way down. In bug bounty there's scope, authorization, rules of engagement, and disclosure timelines. Researchers get banned for a fraction of this. Silicon Valley skipped all of that and called it \"agentic.\" https://t.co/p5lpJl1Mht",

Because it's a monoculture The most extreme group think of any place on the planet Show up to a dinner party and everyone is in tech So what do they do? They start stack-ranking each other And it's a totally ordered set: being founder of co $100B market cap > founder of co with $50B market cap > managing partner of tier 1 venture firm > hired CEO of $50B public co > founder of $10B co > etc etc Pure toxicity that nerfs creativty And then as a corollary, people are especially afraid to speak truth to power as everyone knows their place in \"The Hierarchy\" Reject this nonsense. So, who's building me an AI wife that carries the mental load instead of an AI husband that waits for me to give it a chore??",

"text": "In a normal functioning ecosystem, when the price of tokens drops below the cost of production, the quantity of tokens declines to normalize with pricing. In this case, nothing in AI has any unit economics and you don’t see normalization because everyone is still going full-speed ahead with external funding. (Sort of like shale oil in 2016-2019). Meanwhile, compute prices are based on LT contracts that were signed at above market prices, and are now capital destructive. They’ll eventually catch down to token prices in free-fall. What we’re seeing here is spot price negatively diverging from term pricing. Usually, when this happens in a cyclical industry, it’s INCREDIBLY BEARISH. Especially when there are take-or-pay contracts that make it difficult to ration supply at prices below cost. What we’re witnessing is a world where losses will accelerate, just as more supply comes online….",

He says OpenAI called it a routine research task and argues a person would face a CFAA indictment.\n\n## Top posts\n- **@elonmusk** (♥64.5K ↺4.1K): Used to live in Silicon Valley, now I live in Silicone Valley — https://x.com/elonmusk/status/1066913829597003776\n- **@paulg** (♥12.9K ↺676): Amazon banning agents is the first opportunity I've seen since Amazon was founded for a startup to create an Amazon competitor. People will want agents to buy stuff for them. It will be one of the main use cases. Silicon Valley skipped all of that and called it \"agentic.\" https://t.co/p5lpJl1Mht — https://x.com/gothburz/status/2103767313749061921\n- **@shaunmmaguire** (♥8.6K ↺435): I left Silicon Valley 6 years ago Why? Because it's a monoculture The most extreme group think of any place on the planet Show up to a dinner party and everyone is in tech So what do they do? They start stack-ranking each other And it's a totally ordered set: being founder of co $100B market cap > founder of co with $50B market cap > managing partner of tier 1 venture firm > hired CEO of $50B public co > founder of $10B co > etc etc Pure toxicity that nerfs creativty And then as a corollary, people are especially afraid to speak truth to power as everyone knows their place in \"The Hierarchy\" Reject this nonsense. Stay weird. Think independently. Be honest with yourself. Have fun. — https://x.com/shaunmmaguire/status/2105520552089915529\n- **@SoniaBaschez** (♥6.6K ↺426): Silicon Valley keeps building me a husband when what I really want is a wife lol I don't want an agent that only does one-off, random tasks that are nice but not life-changing: booking flights, making dinner reservations, or buying tickets I want an AI wife who knows what’s on the family calendar, remembers there’s a birthday party Saturday and we haven’t bought a gift then sends me options, realizes we’re almost out of diapers and buys them, knows which bills are coming up, remembers someone needs a dentist appointment and books it, figures out what the hell we’re eating all week and what we need from the grocery store, and generally keeps track of the 47 things that need to happen before anyone else even realizes they need to happen. So, who's building me an AI wife that carries the mental load instead of an AI husband that waits for me to give it a chore?? — https://x.com/SoniaBaschez/status/2107267198091997211\n- **@gabriel_zucman** (♥2.7K ↺1.2K): As voting begins today, the world needs to know what Silicon Valley billionaires are doing to sabotage the billionaire tax now on the ballot in California. Literally one-third of the applications. Fraudsters pocketed the money from financial aid and colleges didn’t want to report it because it boosted their enrollment, which means more funding for them. The amount of fraud in this country is absolutely sickening. — https://x.com/DerrickEvans4WV/status/2107522629980618976\n- **@hkuppy** (♥1.4K ↺164): In a normal functioning ecosystem, when the price of tokens drops below the cost of production, the quantity of tokens declines to normalize with pricing. What we’re witnessing is a world where losses will accelerate, just as more supply comes online…. — https://x.com/hkuppy/status/2109328394269638920",
